Northamptonshire Area

Northamptonshire area has a membership in the region of 1465 split between 5 active groups: Daventry, Kettering, Northampton, Wellingborough and the 20s-30s.  A comprehensive programme of walks is offered by most groups both during the week and at weekends.  The walks vary from short morning or afternoon walks, to full days, 'away days',  long weekends in other parts of the country and even longer holidays.  New walkers are always welcome. Anyone wishing to join the Ramblers' Association can do so online at www.ramblers.org.uk/membership, don't forget to quote which Group you wish to join.

All the groups now have websites which carry their walks programme.  Details can also be accessed via the Ramblers' Association Walks Finder.  There is a Central Mailing Service for those who wish to receive hard copies of all the programmes: please send 3 stamped (37p) addressed envelopes (C5) (4 if you require Daventry's programmes) to Josephine Pettifer, 40 Roberts Street, Wellingborough, Northants, NN8 3HY.  Telephone (01933) 228486.

The Area campaigns in support of the Ramblers' Association National Aims and to improve and maintain the network of footpaths across the County.  We have a team, led by David Craddock, which undertakes practical work on footpaths, with the full co-operation of the County Council.  Please contact David on 01604 455443 if you wish to become involved.  The Area Footpath Committee, which meets once a month, study applications for path diversions and closures as well as planning applications that may affect footpaths, bridleways and by-ways and submits objections where necessary.
